I founded Platypus Media, a DC-based independent publishing company, in 2000 with the goal of bringing materials into the world that address important topics for mothers and children in engaging and relevant ways. I soon realized we couldn't… I founded Platypus Media, a DC-based independent publishing company, in 2000 with the goal of bringing materials into the world that address important topics for mothers and children in engaging and relevant ways. I soon realized we couldn't effectively promote topics such as breastfeeding and attachment parenting to the next generation of parents without first promoting science. This realization launched our Science Naturally imprint. The mission of this imprint is to bring new voices and new illustrators into the world of children's literature while making STEM topics enjoyable and accessible.
