As COViD strained national retailers workforce, the dreaded layoff came outta nowhere in Feb of 2020. I was surprised and shocked by the decision of the company to release over 40 employees during such a difficult time. As a single Mom, I was lost… As COViD strained national retailers workforce, the dreaded layoff came outta nowhere in Feb of 2020. I was surprised and shocked by the decision of the company to release over 40 employees during such a difficult time. As a single Mom, I was lost and to be honest, very scared of my next steps and how I would provide for my family. I researched the process of going out on my own which to my surprise was fairly easy, take a couple tests, complete an interview with a State official and wait for board approval! The scary part was the financial requirements in applying for licensing, certifications, software, insurance, etc that was overwhelming. I made the decision to utilized my stimulus payment to fund my business startup needs and never looked back!
