I began taking piano lessons at age seven and was teaching by age sixteen. After a year of teaching at my local music store in my hometown, I began renting out a space of my own and teaching piano lessons. I continued to teach for the next two years and then after high school I moved to Boston, MA to attend college.
While in Boston I continued to tutor students at the local Fame high school. Upon graduating I moved to Los Angeles and began teaching my own private students once again. I've always wanted to inspire students to pursue their passions and build confidence and through teaching I've been able to accomplish this.
In-between touring the country and Europe I always came back home to teach. After ten years of performing I decided to expand my roster of students by hiring out other teachers and offering instruction on more instruments. Along with teaching the fundamentals each lesson is specifically tailored to meet the student's needs, level, and more importantly what kind of music they want to learn. All of our students learn the songs that they want to learn. No matter what it is, they choose it.
The academy has grown to include group class, band class, camps throughout the year, and baby and me. I believe everyone has the ability to play music. Given the chance and guidance we all can have our own stage to rock out on!
Music In the Schools is a program where we go to the local elementary schools that do not have a music program and introduce students to the guitar, piano, singing, and percussion. We provide this program to students K-2. LAUSD is one of the largest school districts in the country and no music education is provided for students K-2. These are the formative years when music is most easily grasped. We provide the opportunity for each student to play the instruments and "jam"" with their peers. The young students quickly see within a matter of minutes that playing an instrument is possible and can be an extremely rewarding group activity.
Music at Kaiser Hospital is a program we started in 2019. We've been sending teachers over to the local Kaiser Hospital to perform for patients and guest as they enter the lobby or sit in the courtyard. Many patients are lonely spending days in the hospital with possibly no visitors and new patients arriving for surgery are often scared. Patients and doctors have come up to our teachers while they are performing
