My bakery will be the first and only bakery in my Town. In fact, there aren't any bakeries like mine will be in the surrounding area. This is particularly shocking given Portland, ME is such a food-oriented city. I will be open 7-4 seven days a week.… My bakery will be the first and only bakery in my Town. In fact, there aren't any bakeries like mine will be in the surrounding area. This is particularly shocking given Portland, ME is such a food-oriented city. I will be open 7-4 seven days a week. I will offer 40+/- seats for people to meet, relax, chill and enjoy our offerings.
The focus is on 100% homemade baked goods: breads, muffins, scones, bars, cookies, biscuits, etc. And, we will integrate seasonal specials that introduce the community to baked goods from other cultures and regions. Ultimately, we will add cooked-to-order breakfast and lunch items but we'll start with baked goods and top quality hot/cold beverages. Will will not offer anything fried, bagels or custom cakes. I want to partner with those that are already in those spaces.
Importantly, our social mission will drive us. We will impact food insecurity by donating a loaf of bread for every loaf purchased. We will educate our staff and customers on inclusion through our variety of baked goods (from all over the world) and messaging in the bakery. We will teach others news skills like how to run a small business, how to bake, customer service, etc.
