The StormHold is a natural evolution of my artistic life. Years ago, I began to mentor high school girls and host the talents of other creatives in my art studio. Storytellers, dancers, poets, bards, musicians, comedians, and artists rocked my world.… The StormHold is a natural evolution of my artistic life. Years ago, I began to mentor high school girls and host the talents of other creatives in my art studio. Storytellers, dancers, poets, bards, musicians, comedians, and artists rocked my world. My studio progressed into an event space, art retreat, and gallery.
My husband, DJ Gary Storm interviewed the performers for his global radio show, Oil of Dog, in his studio located an hour from mine. Then the pandemic hit and my studio lease expired, so I made plans to combine our studios in a new permanent location.
The StormHold will continue what began in my art studio, with a focus on females as performers, employees, and artisans, and mentorships for girls. It will accommodate 50 people of all abilities, all colors, all ethnicities, all genders. Social gatherings after events will further connections between cultures.
Gary Storm will manage radio interviews and host record listening parties from his extensive vinyl collection. Overnight art retreats will be available for guests who want more time experiencing creative cultural compassion.
The location is yet to be determined.
