Prior to, I had no thoughts of fabric as it related to fashion but as a child I learned sew and with that memory my thought was "Cry or Try". With a little more than $20 on hand I visited a local fabric store and purchased enough denim to make 5 garments to sell then invited a few friends, served Welches White Grape Juice and that was the beginning of what I called "Wine and Cheese fashion Affairs" (No wine LOL). Today, we are Sofistafunk, the Skirt Co., a minimum to zero-waste, eco-conscious and Pay-It-Forward minority-owned small business. What I first viewed as adversity was just what we needed to soar.
