Porteñas is a women-owned business whose focus is to bring Argentina's unique culture of friendship to the US, through South America's best-loved beverages, meals and treats.
Porteñas brings the flavors of restaurants into your home. Our gourmet empanadas highlight recipes from cities all over the world: like Osaka, with Teriyaki Pork; Austin, with BBQ chicken and bacon; or Woodstock, with mushrooms and caramelized onions.
We opened our doors at 557 Lorimer Street, Brooklyn, in February 2019, and did a summer pop-up that same year, serving our delicious empanadas at Soft Spot Bar on Bedford Avenue, only 10 blocks away.
Like everyone else, we faced the challenge of closing our doors in March 2020. But that didn't last long! We pivoted and pivoted to stay open, retrofitting our kitchen to prepare meals for healthcare workers. And with the increased demand for frozen empanadas, our B2B growth quickly outpaced our B2C forcing us to open a second (and much larger) store in 2020!
Today, Porteñas offers delicious and nutritious food at affordable prices. Our products can be eaten on the go, or can be taken home frozen to later be baked. We're focusing on B2B: we manufacture frozen empanadas, beverages and sweet treats that we sell to bars, cafes and restaurants. Our goal is to expand our sales to supermarkets, schools and hospitals.
