Made started as a dream of Christine Sharp-Crowe's nearly 20 years ago. As an artist, maker, and entreperneur, she started planning a venue for artists and crafters to showcase their work in Tulsa with Indie Emporium back in 2007. Indie Emporium was the largest handmade art, craft, and fashion show in the region for a decade and something close to Christine's heart.
With an opportunity to be a part of Tulsa's 1st holiday pop-up shops, she got to dip her feet in the water as a retail shop girl. She loved it so much, she just never quit, opening a 250 square foot retail space at 5th and Boston, in Tulsa's Deco District. Made was an anchor in the deco shops for seven years.
In 2013, Christine and Thom had an opportunity to open a second location in the Pearl District along with a creative co-working space called the Workshop. It was a creative hub where makers came to create things together and sell them in the shop. After three years, Christine decided to focus on the original location and to take time to adjust to motherhood.
Then, in 2016, Christine was in touch with the George Kaiser Family Foundation, who welcomed Made to the Archer Building. The new space offered Christine everything she had dreamed of for years: a creative space in the heart of the Arts District where she can create and work. She added an office for Thom and a play area for her daughter Elise and made it a real family buisness. When you're in, say hi to Christine and you just might be welcomed by Tulsa's cutest and friendliest shop girl, Elise.
