Hella Nuts™ the Plant-Based Eatery provides an essential service. The restaurant provides low-income families with healthy vegan alternatives to their favorite meal. Chef Mieko and Chef Kamari noticed that the Bay Area had little to offer when it came to all-vegan establishments. Many serve soy and gluten which are allergens to many people, yet all-vegan restaurants use soy oils, tofu, soy protein/products due to the cost. Soy is 82% GMO and also cancer-causing. Currently, in Oakland, there aren't any healthy eating options available after 10 pm. This created a unique opportunity for Hella Nuts™ to step in and move in the direction of the millennial culture by offering hours of 6:30 pm to 2:30 am. The goal of Hella Nuts™ is to gently glide consumers who have no desire to become plant-based transition into a plant-based diet.
Hella Nuts™ was due to open a brick & mortar in March 2020. However, due to COVID-19, everything was put on hold. Instead of stressing we pivoted our restaurant into a temporary manufacturing facility and launched our frozen patent-pending meat replacement. Hella Nuts™ created a Patent Pending plant-based meat replacement that is sold in house, online and at local natural food stores. The patent-pending Walnut Meat resembles ground meat. It can be used for tacos, pasta, plant-based burgers, shepherds pie, pizzas, burritos, stuffed bell peppers, and an array of other dishes. Hella Nuts™ product is 100% plant-based, soy-free, science-free, non-GMO, and made with organic ingredients. Hella Nuts™ Walnut Meat is conveniently pre-seasoned, just heat it on the stovetop. The product is used weekly in staple menu items.
