We strive to ensure 85% of revenue from wildlife service tours is invested in host communities to incent locals working with visitors to monitor and protect unique species and habitats.
Friends of Wallacea was launched in February 2020 in partnership with Operation Wallacea (Opwall), an organization dedicated to international biodiversity and conservation research. FoW uses the existing infrastructure, experience, and data from established Opwall sites to develop new income streams through tourism for communities looking to protect their unique wildlife. Currently, we operate in partnership with NGOs and communities in Romania, Croatia, South Africa, and Ecuador, with development underway for three new sites in Guyana alongside the Guyanese government. We are dedicated to empowering communities to conserve nature while providing tourists a unique opportunity to explore remote parts of the world alongside the scientists and indigenous peoples that protect them.
