Deepali and her incredible team in Portland work on many aspects of the design process. Nanu and her team of artisans in her studio in India transform their ideas into reality.

Background: Deepali-I worked in India 20 years back, surrounded by textiles, creating product lines for buyers from various fashion and home brands. I then had an arranged marriage, moved to the US, and begin designing textiles again—that was the… Background: Deepali-I worked in India 20 years back, surrounded by textiles, creating product lines for buyers from various fashion and home brands. I then had an arranged marriage, moved to the US, and begin designing textiles again—that was the start of Filling Spaces. Nanu is the manufacturing side, and we bring the best of both worlds. Growing up, we saw how mistreated people were in export houses, and it was important for us to make this a partnership between the people behind this beautiful craft. It takes hours for someone to hand-weave a shawl, but big fabric companies don't know who is touching and making their fabric. We want to keep our business practices transparent by introducing faces and hands behind every product.
