Our cafe sells bread and cakes, designs customized cakes for special occasions, as… Filled Cafe & Silogan is a Filipina woman owned and run business, and is the first Filipino bake shop on Staten Island, as well as the only Silog House in New York. Our cafe sells bread and cakes, designs customized cakes for special occasions, as well as serves Filipino breakfast/brunch called silog. When our shop opened in January 2020, it quickly established a loyal customer base who appreciated Filipino cuisine and our freshly made treats. Although we were still open for pick-up and delivery orders during the pandemic, I had to lay off employees and I couldn't catch up with the rent and other bills as the sales drastically decreased. I was able to resume our rent payments in late 2020, but could only afford to pay partial rent. However, in February 2021, the dine in restrictions took its toll. Our landlord decided to evict us so we were forced to close down the café and instead move into a commercial kitchen, changing our business model into a "virtual cafe"" (also known as "cloud kitchen" or "ghost kitchen") that only does delivery and pick up orders with no dine in service.
We have been very recently given the opportunity to possibly join as one of the vendors at the Food Hall that will be opening in Staten Island's Empire Outlet this September but we very much need funding and hope to be able to be one of the grant recipients."
