For years my brother had said that our mother's salad dressing was so good you could sell it. In an effort to prove him wrong, I started sharing it with friends, who shared it with their friends. Before long, I was running a cottage industry, delivering jars of salad dressing to neighbors in recycled clementine boxes I picked up at Whole Foods each week. One day, a curious Whole Foods employee asked me what I did with all the boxes. When I told him, he said, “well, if you make salad dressing, why haven’t you shared it with us?” So she did. His reaction: “we don’t sell anything like this, and we should!” Whole Foods put my dressing in one store, a month later it in three stores and the month after that fourteen. It's now available nationwide!
