From the outside, Downtown Market is just a collective space of over 5,000 square feet of artisans and entrepreneurs. But when you enter our space, you learn this is so much more than that.
We are housing over 80 artisans, small businesses, and youth entrepreneurs; thus being the largest artisan market in Front Royal, Virginia.
We offer a unique shopping experience and a great sense of belonging when you arrive at our doorstep, because here is not only about the shopping, but also about becoming part of our community.
There is no better way to support creatives than to offer everyone a space to exercise that creativity, and this is how our Arts & Crafts Studio came to life.
To some, a craft is simply a hobby that brings passion and delights the eyes of the public, to others a craft is a therapeutic activity to relieve the stress and find more meaning in life, and to others a craft is the precursor of an explosion of creativity, a form of art that expands beyond that one person's interests and brings enormous joy to the world.
At Downtown Market we have room for everyone, for every passion and for every craft; We offer two options to those who want to practice their craft,
1. You can join our workshops in creating something from the many options we offer like: painting canvas, ceramics, birdhouses, wooden signs, and much more, making charm bracelets or keychains, earrings or handmade toys;
2. You can take on art classes and further cultivate your skills and passion.
By creating this Hub, we want to give back to our community.
First, its reason for being is that we never stand alone in face of hard times and perils, we are stronger together and this is what will keep us moving forward and overcoming any type of hardness, yes, even a pandemic.
Second, we support our community by offering people the opportunity to buy local, to support small businesses and local artisans, to contribute to the wellbeing of every individual in our community by buying from their business and supporting them to live another day and to rise stronger than before when these hard times will pass us by.
And last but not least, the Downtown Market owners Cynthia Smithlin and Teresa Henry have worked with passion, sweat equity, and personal savings to start this woman-owned business in 2020. We hope with our example we encourage our local artisans and our community to join us and become part of the story, the story of our rebirth.
