I am a full-spectrum doula, and I provide childbearing people with non-medical physical and emotional support, reproductive health education, childbirth education, and support and assistance obtaining social services. I am with childbearing women and… I am a full-spectrum doula, and I provide childbearing people with non-medical physical and emotional support, reproductive health education, childbirth education, and support and assistance obtaining social services. I am with childbearing women and their families through pregnancy, labor and delivery, and into early postpartum. I'm most interested in serving women having high-risk pregnancies, eliminating birth outcome disparities, and lowering maternal mortality in black childbearing women.
I also train and mentor aspiring birth workers who want to serve black mothers. Black childbearing women are at 3-4 times the risk for severe complications and perinatal death. Having a culturally competent doula throughout the childbearing process has been shown to reduce the incidence of perinatal complications and perinatal death in black childbearing women.
